If you have forgotten your Student ID card (SHUcard) you can still enter the building with a temporary day pass, issued from the self-service day pass kiosk.

Day Pass Kiosk

The day pass is intended to support students and staff to access library buildings if you have forgotten your SHUcard. It is not a replacement for a lost SHUcard; if you have lost your SHUcard you should order a replacement card.

Please read the following information about how the temporary day pass can be used:

• The day pass kiosks are located at the entrance to both Adsetts and Collegiate libraries.
• You are limited to 5 day passes per semester.
• If you reach this limit, you will not be allowed to enter the libraries and you will need to order a replacement SHUcard.
• Day passes are issued for a full 24 hours from when you print out the pass. The expiry time and date is shown on the pass.
• If you lose your day pass it will not be possible to get a replacement within the 24 hour period.
• Your SHUcard will be blocked until the pass expires
• The day pass cannot be used to borrow items.
• The day pass cannot be used to borrow or return library laptops.
• You will be able to return any items you have borrowed using the self-service machines (excluding library laptops).
• The day pass is for your use only and you must not give it to anyone else to use.
• Library security staff are entitled to check the ID of all library users.

If you have lost your SHU card a replacement can be purchased through the SHU store 

How to use the day pass kiosk

1. The kiosk will display two options: staff or students. Associate members or visitors should visit the library reception to enquire about entry.
2. Log in to the day pass kiosk using your SHU username and password
3. You will be prompted to ACCEPT or DECLINE the terms and conditions about using the day pass.
4. Once accepted, a temporary day pass will be printed and issued to you.
5. You can now use the day pass to enter and exit the library. Scan the barcode on the entry and exit gates.
