Can I bring my children into the libraries?

Answer

Current Sheffield Hallam University students and staff that are parents/guardians/caregivers are welcome to sign in one child (aged 17 or under) into the library during their visit. Please see section 3 and section 6 of the Hallam Library Access Policy for full details.

In addition to the details in the Library Access Policy, please bear in mind the following with regard to child safety and behaviour:

  • Entry to the libraries is managed, however members of the general public are able to use the libraries as a Visitor or Associate Member.
  • Hallam libraries are designed for adults. Be wary of hazards like stairs, balconies, sharp corners or electrical equipment etc.
  • Children are not allowed in Quiet and Silent areas of Adsetts and Collegiate library. Details of all spaces can be found on our 24 hour learning spaces page.

Children are not allowed to be on University premises unsupervised by a parent/guardian/caregiver. We are unable to accommodate children of Associate Members, Guests, Partner Students, or Visitors.

Please note anyone aged 18 or over is not considered a child and must be signed in as a Guest - please see our Can I sign a Guest into the library with me?FAQ for further details.
